Almond and Honey cigars
Today I share the first recipe of oriental pastry I have learned from my mum! It is easy and quick to make. I love it because even if it's winter or raining outside, these cigars have Mediterranean flavors, I can feel the sun just by making them... and eating them of course! The hardest part will be trying not to eat all in one sitting...
Here we go with the family recipe:
- 1 cup ground almonds
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Brick pastry (warka) or filo dough
- Orange blossom
- Neutral oil
- Combine the ground almonds, sugar, cinnamon, butter and orange blossom. Don't hesitate to taste it and adjust according to your taste: more or less sugar, cinnamon, orange blossom.
- Slice the brick pastry in 4 (usually they form a circle). Form a roll with the filling and place it in the brick pastry. Fold the sides and roll it to form a cigar.
- Fry until golden.
- In a pan, heat up the honey with the orange blossom. Dive the cigars in it a few seconds.
